Alana Corwin

Alana Corwin is a senior business consultant at CyBIZ Lab and the current president of Iowa State University's Entrepreneur Club. At CyBIZ Lab, she partners with local and national businesses on team projects that tackle a wide range of challenges. Alana began her studies at Iowa State in 2022 as a hospitality management major before turning her focus to entrepreneurship. She entered the entrepreneurship scene in 2024 through collegiate pitch competitions, completed CYstarters, Iowa State's startup accelerator, and has continued to take on leadership roles while finishing her degree.

Growing up in a small town as one of the few women of color in her school, Alana often felt like an outsider. Throughout high school she wrestled with questions of identity and struggled with her mental health, and without access to formal support until college, she relied on a few close friends who stood by her without judgment.

That experience shaped her mission. Alana first launched Apricity to create mental health workbooks so others could find support sooner than she did. As she competed in pitch competitions, where she was often the only woman advancing, she saw a different kind of gap - and Apricity evolved into a consulting practice for women entrepreneurs. Today she helps women develop their business ideas, set long-term goals, and build their brands and websites. Every engagement begins with a personal consultation so Alana can understand each client's life and aspirations. While Apricity's work has changed, its purpose has stayed the same: helping people feel supported and know they belong.
