Alana Fishman, LMSW, is a seasoned healthcare professional with more than 27 years of experience in social services, skilled nursing, and long-term care. She currently serves as the Business Development Manager for the Excelsior Care Group, where she has spent over six years strengthening community partnerships, expanding outreach initiatives, and driving organizational growth. Prior to this, she dedicated nearly two decades to Four Seasons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as Director of Admissions, where she oversaw intake operations, led multidisciplinary teams, and supported families during some of their most challenging transitions. Her career reflects an unwavering commitment to improving quality of care and ensuring patients receive the support and resources they need.
Alana’s academic foundation includes a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University, where she also completed her bachelor’s degree with a double major in Sociology and Theatre. As a Licensed Master Social Worker and adjunct professor, she blends clinical insight with leadership experience to mentor future professionals entering the field. Her approach is rooted in empathy, communication, and the belief that meaningful relationships are central to successful care delivery. She is also an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), reinforcing her dedication to the highest ethical and professional standards.

I attribute my success to being shaped by a hardworking environment and maintaining a constant drive to grow both personally and professionally. I am always striving for more and committed to pushing myself to achieve excellence.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to pause before reacting—listen, observe, and fully understand the situation first. This approach has strengthened my leadership and improved my decision-making throughout my career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering this field to follow their passion wholeheartedly. When you lead with purpose and genuine commitment, success and fulfillment naturally follow.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge—and opportunity—in my industry is the constant state of change. Staying adaptable and open to new approaches allows us to continuously improve care delivery and meet evolving needs.
