Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to myself because I believe in perseverance and creating my own room when others say I don't belong. Second is my mother who is innovative, creative, has a thirst for learning, and pours into me, multiplying my mind and reach exponentially.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Someone once told me that my career, my transitions, my challenges, and my lived experiences are not detours, that they're data. That knowledge can become unusually valuable when it's structured and shared. Your lived experience is all data that can be analyzed to assess and move forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't rush to reinvent yourself. First, inventory what life has already taught you. The value is not just in your job title, but also in the patterns that you have learned while solving problems, while caring for people, while leading, while adapting, and rebuilding. Keep self-love at the center of everything you do.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is moving extremely fast with new tools and versions constantly. The challenge is businesses layering AI on top without assessing their foundation first. Taking a pause to inventory and assess current processes and infrastructure is key because AI will only make you more of what you are faster. If processes are broken, it makes you inefficient faster.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, openness, education, and giving back. I want my word and name to represent me. I want clients to leave more educated. Volunteering, donating, and creating opportunity for others is important, including providing services where there are none.
