Her Story

About Alana

Alana Wilson is a part owner of Pocket Kerchief, a vendor management company that specializes in managed file transfer and file transfer protocol solutions for clients without large IT teams. She has been in the tech field for about two years, drawing on her background in sales that began in her youth through trade shows with her mother and continued at Toyota, where she advanced to internet sales manager and oversaw a transition to AI-run systems. Wilson manages Common Grounds coffee shop downtown in Greensboro full time, which aids her networking, and her expertise centers on organization and matching the right people and solutions for her clients. She attended GTCC for business and finance for a couple of semesters but did not complete a degree. Wilson has participated in projects with the NAACP, including Black Diamond Gardens, as well as serving at Potter House and Urban Ministries. She credits her success to waking each day with gratitude and an attitude of abundance as a devout follower of Christ, and she follows her mother's advice to remain a lifelong learner who never assumes expertise in any subject.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my love, my life, my success to waking up every single day filled to the brim with gratitude and an attitude of abundance. I am a devout follower of Christ.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My mom told me once that it is important to be a lifelong learner. Never think that you are done learning, never think that you are an expert in any subject. There's always more to know, there's always more to learn.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is definitely a scary thing. We work with AI solutions, and it's always a very up-in-the-air conversation. There's a lot of companies who are steering away from it.
