Her Story

About Alanna

My journey spans over 20 years in digital marketing and performance marketing, but I recently made a pivotal transition into life coaching that feels like coming home. I've always had a psychology background and a deep curiosity about how people think and what makes them tick. For about 20 years, personal development has been my second love. I always wanted to do something near and dear to my heart with other people because I love helping people and I have a passion for people. The digital marketing industry brought me financial success, but none of the connection and satisfaction I craved. As I aged, I felt like I wanted a career change. I was getting into coaching slowly on the side, studying the frameworks and reading everything I could get my hands on - I love audiobooks. Then I got let go from a job of seven years, and I took that as my moment to pull right in. Now I'm practicing as a life coach, and I'm really excited about it. I specialize in life changes, particularly working with women in midlife who are navigating career changes, mid-life crises, divorce, empty nest syndrome, or other major transitions. I'm also fascinated by behavior change and habits - the kind of routines and things people can do for themselves to make their own life better, inspired by authors like James Clear. The coaching community through ICF, the International Coaching Federation, has been amazing - I've made friends, gained insight into how others practice, and found it to be a wonderful guiding force for me.

Ten minutes with Alanna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say really taking some of the frameworks that I've learned and practicing them. I read constantly - everything I can get my hands on. I love picking people's brains and talking to people, asking them what they need, what their goals are, their dreams. With the psychology piece of that, I love learning how people think and what they make of things. The coaching community through ICF has been a wonderful guiding force for me - I've made friends and gained so much insight into the way others practice. I studied for some of it before I started practicing, immersing myself in the knowledge and frameworks that would help me serve people better.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You know, people say follow your passion, but I don't know if that's necessarily the right way to put it. I would say make sure that whatever you do and spend the most time doing in your daily life, make sure that you have meaning and purpose. You can find meaning and purpose in doing whatever you do, no matter what it is. If you're working more time than you're sleeping, and a lot of people are, then make sure that you feel those things so that you can have inner peace. Work is a big part of people's lives, and I hope that they can enjoy it and be present and enjoy the journey, not just the outcome. That's super important.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being inspired every day is incredibly important to me, and being able to share the lessons and things that I've learned along the way with others so that they can take those lessons and make their own lives better. Some of the things I've experienced in my life have really been golden nuggets, and I want to share them with others. Being present and being mindful are core values for me. Human connectedness is huge, especially in a world of AI and where we are at this point in time - I'm fascinated by it, but I value that human connection. Family and those bonds that you can't break are essential to me. I have compassion and empathy for people at different stages of their lives, and I have a passion for people.
