Ten minutes with Aleah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong foundation of faith, consistent prayer, and unwavering hard work. My faith in God is a guiding force through both personal and professional challenges, especially when it comes to supporting individuals and families during their most difficult moments. It serves as a reminder that while I rely on God's guidance, I must also do my part through effort, accountability, and perseverance. I believe in overcoming obstacles with determination, self-reflection, and a willingness to grow when needed. The true meaning of success for me lies not only in my own accomplishments but in the opportunity to help others achieve their goals and find their own path to fulfillment.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

(Corporate Industry)

Today is temporary. Tomorrow is temporary. What matters is aligning yourself with the permanent vision of who you are—both morally as a person and as a leader. Focus on cultivating the qualities and values that will define you in the long term.

(Funeral Industry)

Don’t worry about the families you don’t have; focus on the families that you do have. The impact you make in their lives is what truly matters.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Burnout is real, and it can hit hard if you're not careful. If you find yourself asking why you chose this field and the answer revolves around making money or simply following in family footsteps due to pressure or expectation, then it might be time for a reassessment. Don’t force yourself to stay if your heart isn’t in it. Instead, focus on rediscovering and strengthening your purpose in this industry. When you connect with the deeper reasons behind your work, it helps you stay grounded and prevents you from losing sight of why you chose this journey in the first place.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in this industry is building trust during one of the most difficult times in people's lives—when they are grieving and also facing the financial reality of losing a loved one. Unfortunately, negative stories about funeral businesses or individual directors losing their way often dominate the news, which makes it even harder to establish that trust. However, this challenge has also opened doors for new opportunities.

Death is no longer a taboo subject, and families are beginning to have more open conversations. Grandparents are now sharing their final wishes, and parents are planning pre-need arrangements to relieve their children of the burden later on. My generation, Millennials or Generation Y, is attending funerals for friends and classmates, and that, in itself, sparks the conversation about financial planning for after death. This is part of why I became licensed to sell life insurance.

The key to life insurance isn’t just covering funeral expenses—it’s about leaving behind generational wealth. It's about helping families build a financial legacy that can provide for future generations, something that can ease the burden and create lasting stability during a time of loss.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Our personal values naturally weave into our professional lives. The way we carry ourselves and the principles we live by in our personal lives often shape how we approach our work. When you have a strong sense of self-worth, it builds a solid moral foundation, which then reflects in how you treat others and make decisions in your professional life. Honesty and integrity aren't just words; they become the core of how you engage with clients, colleagues, and the community. When your personal values align with your professional actions, it creates a deeper sense of trust and authenticity in everything you do.
