Her Interview

Ten minutes with Aleata

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've always known that I've wanted to do more. I don't always fit into the box, the typical box, and so I've really harnessed onto that curiosity to want to do more. I would take roles not because of title or pay, but really just to learn. I love to solution. I love to take something that may seem broken and fix it and make it even better.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I've had is choosing someone that can sponsor you and speak for you in rooms that you're not in, and making sure that they understand what you do fully. As women, we need to remember having the right sponsor, having someone that can be your voice and advocate for you in rooms that you're not in.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Because of the women in my life that have done that for me, I actually see it as an opportunity to pay it forward and do the same. Find the unexpected talent that you could just bring forward and help them flourish.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest challenges is that it is taking orchestration across several partners that you don't have control of. It takes a lot of influencing to get them there, a lot of education, even internally and externally as to the why. It's getting people to see the vision and think beyond where they're currently sitting.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Caring, and leading people the way that I would want to be led, and caring about the person. And curiosity. If you're not curious, you're not learning, you're not changing, you're not driving. Having curiosity fuels my hunger to want to do more.
