About Alexa

I graduated with my bachelor's degree in 2013 with a major in communication studies, concentration in performance studies, and minors in folklore and social and economic justice. I don't have a tech background at all - I just stumbled into tech. I started working in SaaS software in 2014, beginning with customer success and support roles before quickly transitioning into user research, where I spent 5 years. In March 2020, I moved into product management, where I've been for the past 5-6 years. As a product manager, the core part of my job is making sure we're building the right things and solving problems that customers actually have - solving the top priority problems in ways that resonate with how people work. My strong suit is user research and market validation, really focusing on understanding the problem space, validating what the most important problems to solve are, and validating whether people see initial value recognition when they encounter a solution. I'm really good at cross-team collaboration, bringing different people together with different perspectives and expertise to build solutions in the best way we can. It's never just one brain that has the best ideas - it's a group of people that always bring the best ideas to market. I focus on finding people's strengths and helping leverage those to build the best products. I've received company awards for being visionary and bringing people together to move the product forward and move the company forward. Collaboration and facilitation are definitely among my stronger suits.
