Her Story

About Alexa

I've been in this industry since 1994, and I've been with the Home Mag Magazine since 2008 as their Executive Sales and Marketing Director. My main areas of expertise are sales, lead generation, retention, and marketing. I'm proud to say I've been in the top 3 in sales for the last 15 years here. Before joining the Home Mag, I founded Testin Nanny Agency in Boca Raton, Florida, which was a domestic placement agency that I owned and franchised before selling it in 2006. I studied marketing and business at the University of Alabama, though I didn't finish because I opened up my own business. I continue to stay updated on the latest in our field, including CRMs like Mirabelle Technologies, and ongoing training in sales, marketing, digital media, and social media so that I can better assist our clients in both print and digital formats. What I attribute my success to is developing relationships and honestly wanting to help my clients - not just sell, but to actually benefit them, whether it benefits me or not.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I believe developing relationships and, honestly, wanting to help my clients. Not just sell, but to actually benefit them, whether it benefits me or not. That's really what drives me - I genuinely care about making sure my clients succeed, even if it doesn't directly benefit me in the moment.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do your research. Educate yourself on all forms of media so that you can better assist and help your clients. It's really important to stay current and knowledgeable across all the different platforms and channels available today, because that's how you'll be able to truly serve your clients well.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges are being able to evaluate all forms of media - there's so much out there now that it can be overwhelming to assess what works best. But the opportunities in the field are really about being able to utilize all forms of media and knowing how to use it effectively. If you can master that and understand how to leverage all these different channels, that's where the real opportunity lies.
