Alexa von Tobel

Alexa von Tobel is an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and financial expert who serves as the Founder and Managing Partner of Inspired Capital, a $900 million venture capital firm that invests in pre-seed through Series A companies tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges. A Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), she is also a New York Times bestselling author of Financially Fearless and Financially Forward, and hosts Inc.’s entrepreneurship podcast The Founders Project, where she interviews influential founders and innovators about building transformative companies.

Prior to launching Inspired Capital in 2019, von Tobel founded the personal finance company LearnVest in 2008 with a mission to make financial planning accessible to everyone. Under her leadership, the company raised nearly $75 million in venture funding and grew into one of the most recognized digital financial planning platforms before being acquired by Northwestern Mutual in 2015 in one of the decade’s most notable fintech acquisitions. Following the acquisition, she joined Northwestern Mutual’s executive leadership team as its first Chief Digital Officer and later Chief Innovation Officer, where she led the company’s digital strategy and chaired the investment committee for its venture arm, NM Future Ventures.

A recognized leader in entrepreneurship and innovation, von Tobel has appeared on the cover of Forbes and has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times and Vogue. She has received numerous honors, including being named to Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and Most Powerful Women lists, Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders. Originally from Florida, she graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and later attended Harvard Business School. She now lives in New York City with her husband and their three children.
