Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alexandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong work ethic instilled in me by both of my parents, especially my father. His dedication and sacrifices to provide me with opportunities, including paying for my college education despite not having the chance to attend himself, taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and accountability. That example has shaped my approach to every stage of my career, motivating me to stay focused, work diligently, and see every commitment through to completion.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

It sounds very much like the Lion King but it's "remember who you are."

Sometimes we all get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and let imposter syndrome get the best of us. But if we can just recall all the fantastic things we've accomplished and tough situations we've managed well, we will succeed.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Public relations is an outstanding career for young women because strong communication, empathy, and the ability to uncover meaningful stories are among the profession's greatest strengths. I encourage aspiring professionals to embrace emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence as tools that can enhance their work rather than replace it. Most importantly, seek out a mentor early in your career. Learning from experienced professionals can provide invaluable guidance, accelerate your growth, and help you navigate opportunities and challenges with greater confidence.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge currently is the perception that because of artificial intelligence people and firms can do their own public relations. To an extent that's true, but it's also quite shortsighted. Public relations is still very much a strategic and relationship-driven profession.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I try to model being fair, honorable and thoughtful of others to my two children.
