Alexandra (Ali) Wisenall, DNP, MBA, APRN, FNP‑BC, is the Founder and CEO of Novella Women’s Health PLLC, a GYN-only private practice launching in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia that delivers accessible, patient-centered care while honoring each woman’s story. She is also the co-founder of Hottwise Company, an initiative addressing clinician burnout, and the founder of The Story Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bridging healthcare gaps for women. Ali centers her professional work on servant leadership, service, and community-aligned care, guided by her core values of faith, family, and service.
With more than 16 years of experience in healthcare, Ali has advanced from CNA to executive leadership, blending clinical expertise with operational management. She has held key positions including Assistant Vice President of Ambulatory Operations at WVU Medicine Berkeley and Jefferson Medical Centers, Director of Ambulatory Services, and Advanced Practice Professional. Across her career, she has led multidisciplinary teams, managed complex ambulatory portfolios, and implemented strategies to improve both patient outcomes and provider efficiency. Through Hottwise Company, she develops solutions to combat EHR-related burnout and optimize clinician workflows.
Ali earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Organizational & Systems Leadership from Carlow University and an MBA from Youngstown State University, graduating with distinction in both programs. She is board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP‑BC) and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt, underscoring her commitment to quality improvement and operational excellence. Ali attributes her success to her faith, persistence, and commitment to her purpose, guided by the principle of serving others. She remains a mentor, advocate for women in medicine, and lifelong learner, dedicated to empowering clinicians, fostering collaboration, and driving transformative change in women’s healthcare.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice Ali ever received came from her first leadership role, where her manager — who later became a friend and mentor — encouraged her to stay grounded and focused on service, reminding her to never lose sight of why she does this work. She also advised, ‘If you want to keep climbing, keep climbing. But if you are happy with where you are, embrace that and keep thriving, because there is no shame in what brings you joy.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Empowered women empower women.” Ali encourages new healthcare professionals to reject scarcity thinking, to support colleagues’ success, and to pursue roles that align with personal joy and purpose.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Ali sees the greatest opportunity in her field as the ability to provide high-quality, personalized care to her patients. The biggest challenges she faces are improving access and affordability, ensuring that every patient can receive the care they need without unnecessary barriers.
