Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to three core pillars that have shaped both my character and career. First, growing up watching my mother raise us as a single parent instilled in me a deep sense of grit and resilience, as I witnessed firsthand what it means to persevere and provide against all odds. Second, my faith gives me the conviction that nothing in my life happens by accident, and that I am guided by a greater plan, which provides me with clarity and confidence in my direction. Finally, the relationships I’ve built throughout my career—particularly the mentors, sponsors, and managers I worked with during my 11 years at BlackRock—have been instrumental, serving as a trusted support system and “personal board of advisors” who have helped shape both my professional growth and personal development.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is that the greatest risk you can take is being afraid to take one. As someone who is naturally risk-averse, this reframed how I think about growth and helped me accept that uncertainty and even failure are part of progress. I often reflect on this when I think about our decision to relocate for BlackRock, which felt like a major leap at the time but ultimately led to my opportunity as Chief of Staff—an experience I likely would not have had if I had stayed in Florida. That decision continues to remind me that stepping into discomfort can open doors I otherwise wouldn’t reach.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My biggest advice to young women entering the industry is to intentionally align your personal passions with your career, as that alignment makes the work far more meaningful over time. I’ve also learned that success is not driven by performance alone, but by the strength of your relationships—mentors, sponsors, and advocates who can open doors and speak for you when you’re not in the room. Building that network, alongside doing strong work, has been essential in creating opportunities throughout my career.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity in my field right now is the rapid advancement of AI and technology. I view it less as a challenge and more as a transformation that is reshaping how we work, particularly in fintech. The key opportunity is learning how to effectively leverage these tools to improve efficiency, automation, and decision-making—turning tasks that once took significant time into streamlined, faster processes. At the same time, there is an opportunity to reduce operational costs and mitigate risk through smarter systems and workflows. Ultimately, the focus is on how we integrate technology into our day-to-day work to help businesses scale more effectively and operate more efficiently.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity is the most important value to me, closely tied with integrity. I believe that whether in my personal or professional life, your word is everything—if I commit to something, I follow through, and I strive to be consistent and transparent in how I show up for others, whether it’s my family or my team. Equally important is open communication. I value creating an environment where people feel safe to speak honestly and come to me with anything, knowing they will be supported and heard.
