About Alexandria

Alexandria Sumner serves as a project manager in sales, managing projects for customers in the telecom and industrial sales sector focused on the data center world. With two and a half years in the field, she handles day-to-day quotes, orders, cold calling, vendor meetings, and customer interactions. She began her career in various roles including truck driving and logistics before pursuing certifications in Six Sigma and supply chain management. Alexandria graduated high school in 2016 and earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Professional Certification in Supply Chain Management as well as a Supply Chain Management certification. She credits her rapid progress to the support of her sales team of about 15 people and the mentorship of her mother, who shared two decades of industry knowledge during this period. Alexandria values a mindset where failure is not an option and doing whatever it takes to deliver for customers and colleagues. Outside her professional role, she contributes to causes supporting mental health through fundraisers and volunteer work on a reservation in rural New Mexico.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alexandria

01What do you attribute your success to?

The support from my team and the opportunities given to me, with them having the faith in me that I was able to do it. My mother is a big mentor who crammed 20 years of knowledge into my brain in two and a half years.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't limit yourself to the things that you don't think you can learn. Don't put a cap on your learning ability, because anything that gets thrown at you, that's a new door that opens, so always be open-minded. The opportunities that come with you, and that an opportunity not taken is an opportunity missed.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being able to source things competitively is a big thing, especially being in a company that is up and thriving and changing in direction, so exciting.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Failure's not an option. There's no such thing as I can't. Doing whatever it takes to get it done, like jumping out in the warehouse to get something done for a customer overnight or staying late to help colleagues finish a project.
