About Alexis
Alexis Day is a healthcare administration leader with more than a decade of experience driving quality improvement, operational excellence, and patient-centered care across nonprofit and hospital healthcare systems. As Director of Medical Services at Meridian Healthcare, she partners with multidisciplinary teams to improve organizational performance, streamline operations, and enhance patient outcomes through collaborative leadership and continuous process improvement. Her career also includes leadership and project management roles at Nationwide Children's Hospital and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, where she gained valuable experience in healthcare operations, clinical project management, and policy analysis. Recognized as Supervisor of the Year in 2024 and a published co-author alongside the Chief of Surgery at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Alexis has established herself as an accomplished and forward-thinking healthcare professional.
Committed to lifelong learning and leadership development, Alexis earned a Doctor of Health Administration from Northcentral University after completing her Master of Health Administration at Florida A&M University. She further strengthened her expertise through project management and quality improvement certifications, including the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). In addition to her executive responsibilities, she serves as an Adjunct Professor at Santa Fe College, where she teaches introductory healthcare courses and mentors aspiring healthcare professionals. Her passion for developing future leaders also extends to her role as a mentor with Braven, helping students build the confidence and professional skills needed for successful careers.
Beyond her professional achievements, Alexis is deeply invested in strengthening the communities she serves. She actively contributes to organizations such as the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Girls Place, and regional Young Professionals initiatives, where she advocates for leadership development, civic engagement, and opportunities for emerging professionals. A former collegiate softball standout honored as Athlete of the Year and MEAC Player of the Year, she credits the discipline of athletics, the guidance of trusted mentors, and the unwavering support of her family for shaping her leadership philosophy. Whether improving healthcare delivery, educating future professionals, or volunteering in her community, Alexis remains committed to creating meaningful, lasting impact through service, collaboration, and compassionate leadership.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my self-motivation and the unwavering support of my family. From a young age, I sought out leadership opportunities, and my parents, especially my mother and father, instilled confidence in me and encouraged me to keep going, even when I faced setbacks. Their belief in me has been a driving force throughout my journey.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never give up, stay consistent, and be persistent. Most importantly, believe that you are good enough and capable of achieving the goals you set for yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay consistent while also giving yourself grace. It's natural to have big aspirations and feel overwhelmed by balancing your career and personal life, but remember that success takes time. Be patient with yourself, keep showing up, and trust the process.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is retention, particularly in the nonprofit sector. Recruiting and retaining specialized professionals, such as child psychiatrists, remains difficult due to a nationwide shortage, making it an ongoing priority for organizations serving vulnerable communities.
