About Alexis

Alexis Diaz serves as Community Manager at Amavi Salina, a Mill Creek Residential property in Celina, Texas, where she oversees single-family rental homes in a lease-up community. With nearly 11 years in property management, she began her career as a leasing consultant, advanced to assistant manager for six years, and has held her current role for three years. Diaz earned an Associates in Science and Psychology from Navarro College after attending UNC and holds the Certified Apartment Leasing Professional credential through the National Apartment Association while pursuing her CAM designation. She received the Stabilization Award for guiding her community to stabilization in June after two years of construction and was selected for the company's ACM program. Diaz credits her success to her husband's support as a stay-at-home dad and her father's leadership lessons as the oldest of seven children. She values working hard, smart, and together, living balanced lives, and leading by example while emphasizing family and strong resident relationships.

Ten minutes with Alexis

01What do you attribute your success to?

My husband has been a huge support by being a stay-at-home dad so I could focus on my career. My dad has always pushed me to be the best and instilled leadership qualities in me as the oldest of seven.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Showing up and doing your best and working hard goes a long way. Provide great customer service by speaking to people the way you want to be spoken to. Creating relationships with residents is what this industry is about. If you love people and creating relationships, this is the career for you.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges: Real estate has been hard since COVID with slowed development and economic increases. Opportunities: Growing into single-family rentals away from apartments, building new locations in suburban areas to provide homes with customer service.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Work hard, smart, and together. Live balanced lives. Never ask team to do something I wouldn't do myself. Family is everything.
