Her Story

About Alexis

Alexis Beckwith began her career in public health and rural health in 2015 after an undergraduate internship introduced her to the Rural Health Program Officer with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. She developed a passion for the work and continued as an intern before accepting a full-time position in the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health. There, she was promoted quickly and focused on workforce development, including the Conrad 30 waiver and J1 visa waiver programs that place physicians in underserved rural organizations, as well as tax credit and state loan repayment programs. In 2018, she earned her Master's in healthcare administration from LSU Shreveport. Outside of her professional roles, Alexis participates in community efforts such as giving bikes away for Christmas through her husband's business.
