About Alexis

Alexis Terrell, MBA, is a mission-driven healthcare operations leader with extensive experience in care management, team development, quality improvement, and strategic program oversight. She currently serves as an IDD Care Management Supervisor with Partners Health Management, where she leads a team of care managers supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. Her background also includes direct care coordination, healthcare operations, medical-record management, and compliance, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the connection between patient needs and organizational goals.

Alongside her healthcare leadership career, Alexis serves as an adjunct professor, sharing her knowledge of healthcare systems, managed care, administration, and leadership with aspiring healthcare professionals. She is passionate about advocacy, particularly supporting individuals and families navigating complex healthcare systems. Her commitment to service extends into domestic violence advocacy, where she draws from her personal experiences to encourage young people to recognize unhealthy relationship patterns and trust their own voices. She has also channeled her experiences into writing, using poetry and storytelling as tools for healing and awareness.

Family and purpose are central to Alexis's life and work. Her daughter is a major source of inspiration, motivating her to continue growing personally and professionally while demonstrating resilience and strength. Alexis is developing Listening to Me, an intervention-based prompt journal designed to help people explore their emotions, recognize recurring patterns, and reconnect with their inner voice. She also plans to facilitate writing workshops for women, youth, and church communities, combining her passion for healthcare, advocacy, education, and creative expression to help others find their voices and move forward with purpose.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alexis

01What do you attribute your success to?

My daughter motivated me during my darkest times of depression and abuse. I realized if I didn't want to live for myself, I needed to live for her. That gave me the drive to do the work, find my purpose and identity again, and eventually live for myself so I can model resilience for her.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Listen to your inner voice, your gut or spidey sense. Be in tune with yourself and never quiet that voice for anyone because it is uniquely yours and will never steer you wrong.
