Her Story
About Alexis
I started my career in the nonprofit sector after earning my bachelor's degree in nonprofit management from the University of North Texas. My first role was an internship that dove me deep into market research on the customer journey level, and I just fell in love with it immediately. Throughout my career in nonprofit, I gained extensive experience in marketing, directing, and brand communications. After spending years in the nonprofit world, I transitioned into the tech sector, first serving as director of marketing for a B2B company in Plano for 2 years, and now as Content Marketing Manager at GeoForce for the past 2 years. My expertise centers on helping growth stage companies scale to their next level of growth with the capital they currently have. I focus heavily on operational efficiency, building processes, and utilizing tools in the market, including building custom AI agents to help scale operations. Beyond the technical aspects, my true passion lies in creating trust-based team environments where creativity can flourish. I believe that creativity can really only exist when there's a certain level of trust on the team, and building that environment is what drives the most ideation. I've been wildly curious throughout my journey and have been fortunate to have incredible role models and mentors who have helped educate me along the way. Most of my real-world expertise comes from jumping in and getting my hands dirty rather than formal training.

01What do you attribute your success to?
This might sound crazy, but I attribute my success to hope. I think somewhere on a very core level, I've always had a very deep-rooted hope that things could be better, that I could do more, that I could provide more. I've come through some personal trials in life, and all of it stemmed down to, at the very bottom of it, I knew there was more out there, and I knew I was capable of more, and I leaned into that. And it just gave me a level of determination that has helped me progress my career.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice would be your fastest growth path is going to be honesty - being honest about what you want, being honest about what you bring to the table, and being honest about who your company is and who they are. Because I think so much of being a woman is being taught to be kind and soft and to be a people pleaser, but when you are really direct and clear, you can move mountains, and you can climb so much higher when you have that.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest opportunity in my field is learning how to leverage AI in a way that doesn't kill the creative process. I think being able to have the discernment to know when something needs to be automated and when something really needs to have that human touch, and being able to build that system with a positive mindset. I think there's so much fear around AI taking jobs and this and that, but I think if you can look at the situation honestly, look at the processes, and figure out which parts can be used to automate the system to take admin work off of the creative mind, that is going to really propel things forward in the future.
