Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alice
01What do you attribute your success to?
Resilience as a trained skill, not just a trait. Breadth as a compounding advantage, not distraction. Positive attitude as a force multiplier for everything else.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Specialize within the specialty, as your own identity, with a few adjacent competencies as a wider net of experience. Pick areas that naturally show up alongside your specialty.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Having degrees in different areas within education, such as diagnostics, special ed, or health, allows you to meet more needs of an individual child. This enables a more comprehensive approach to helping a child rather than pinpointing to just one thing.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Funding for individuals with disabilities is a challenge, as some cannot afford services. New programs like the Texas Education Freedom Account (TIFA) and PDSES provide financial support for private tutoring and services, helping more students.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, continual growth, resilience as a practiced discipline, service over self-promotion, balance, and transparency. Strive to choose optimism and lean into possibility, for every challenge holds a lesson.
