Her Story

About Alice

Alice Meade is a retired user experience designer who spent 40 years in the software industry. After earning a degree in Cognitive Science from Vassar College, where she combined studies in psychology, philosophy, and computer science, she built a career focused on understanding how people interact with software. Her expertise centered on usability testing, a process involving recruiting participants, assigning tasks, videotaping sessions, and analyzing results to identify what worked and what did not in software interfaces. Meade worked both for established companies and as an independent consultant. In 1996, while consulting for Lotus Development, she delivered a presentation at the Lotusphere event in Miami that was voted the best of the week. She attributes her success to working hard and has maintained membership in the User Experience Professional Society for many years.
