Her Story
About Alicia
I started in healthcare as a nursing assistant right after high school while pursuing a degree in electrical technology. I didn't want to work in that field so I went back to school. I applied for occupational therapy but the program ended, so I entered respiratory therapy instead and fell in love with it. After getting my associate degree, I earned a bachelor's in healthcare management from South University, then completed my MBA in healthcare administration, and am now working on my doctorate in business administration. My passion is taking care of patients, being a good listener, and making sure everyone is fine. I aspire to run a hospital as CEO one day.

Ten minutes with Alicia
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from wanting to be a role model for my grandson so he has someone to look up to. I am motivated by my patients, especially the elderly, and being a listening ear for those who need someone to talk to. I believe in seeing the bright side of life and helping others find motivation and inspiration.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never stop striving and stay focused. Put God first.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not settle. Always try for what you want and work hard to get it. Believe in yourself, trust in God, and do not let negativity or obstacles stop you. Continue striving and moving forward.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge right now is finding a job in my field because employers see me as overqualified due to my advanced education, even though I have the experience. Despite this, I continue applying, believing, and praying that God will send me the right opportunity.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family is most important to me. I value my big family and friends, treating everyone like family regardless of blood relation.
