About Alicia

Alicia Schleicher is a Special Education Teacher and Student Support Coach specializing in K12 education, special education, early childhood education, and student support coaching. Inspired by her mother, a longtime middle school special education teacher, Schleicher entered the field to support students needing extra assistance in reaching their potential. She is certified as a special education teacher and in early childhood education and is working toward her administrator license for Massachusetts. Currently pursuing a Master's in Educational Leadership with an expected graduation in 2028, Schleicher credits a key mentor, now an assistant principal, for guidance that helped shape her career progression from teacher to coach. She emphasizes values of honesty, perseverance, determination, and reflection, often stating that when you know better, you do better. Schleicher advises women entering education to use their voice boldly as advocates for students and families.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alicia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being open and reflective, searching for feedback, and always striving to do the best for students. I often say 'when you know better, you do better' which fuels my career and educational journey.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You are in a position to empower so many students and families. Use your voice, speak up, be bold and brave. You are often your student's biggest advocate, so use your knowledge and voice to support them and their families.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, perseverance, determination, and the ability to reflect and then move forward in a different way. Staying stagnant is the antithesis of what I'm looking for in my life.
