Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alida
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the values my immigrant parents instilled in me. They taught me the importance of hard work, tenacity, and perseverance, while also teaching me to have a passion for justice and to stand up for what is right. Those lessons have shaped how I approach both my work and my life.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Lead with integrity. I believe that how you lead matters just as much as what you accomplish. Making decisions with honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose has guided me throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You can have it all, but you may not be able to have it all at the same time. Different seasons of life bring different priorities, and it is okay to give yourself permission to focus on what matters most in each season. I also believe it is important to recognize that much of the traditional career advice directed toward men does not always apply to working mothers. Success does not have to follow one formula, and women should define success in a way that works for their careers, families, and lives.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities is finding creative and sustainable ways to continue providing high-quality services as funding sources and requirements change. The early childhood field requires organizations to be adaptable, innovative, and thoughtful about how we use resources while continuing to meet the needs of children and families.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are the values I consider most important in both my professional and personal life. I believe that people should be able to trust your words, your decisions, and your actions. These values guide how I lead, how I build relationships, and how I navigate difficult situations.
