About Aliena
Aliena Ali serves as a recruiter at The Hartford, bringing more than two decades of expertise in talent acquisition within the industry sector. She began her career as a recruiting coordinator, an assistant role to a recruiter, and after two years advanced to staffing consultant. Over the years, her responsibilities have consistently involved full-cycle recruitment, from sourcing entry-level candidates to securing senior-level positions across targeted departments. Aliena holds a bachelor's degree in organizational management. She is actively involved with the National African American Insurance Association, having presented at their national conference in North Carolina on building effective resumes and advancing into leadership roles. She also volunteers with various non-profit organizations. Aliena attributes her professional success to remaining her authentic self, maintaining open honesty, and upholding her word as her bond in all interactions.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Being my authentic self has been key to my success. I am openly honest and a woman of my word. My word is my bond, and I never say anything that I do not mean, such as promising to call someone back and actually doing it. This authenticity has propelled me in ways I didn't think was possible.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Make sure the content of what you do brings you joy.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stop waiting until you're ready and start preparing as if the opportunity could arrive tomorrow.
Build your brand, expand your network
Start telling your story in a way that reflects where you're going, not just where you've been.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI has completely changed the narrative. We are being flooded with AI generated resumes, automated applications, and polished candidate profiles.
Skills based hiring is taking over traditional hiring.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Helping other succeed, it is important to me to help people grow, advance and reach their full potential.
