Her Story

About Alina

I've been in marketing since 2020 after completing my master's. My experience is pretty linear, spending time in academics with a bachelor's in international management done half in Germany and half in Mexico, then a master's in international business in Boston where I fell in love with marketing. I started at SingleStore and have been there for 6 years, building my career gradually. Now as Senior Global Program Manager, I lead field marketing with a team across US and Europe, handle social media, and work cross-functionally with sales and engineers to align marketing with go-to-market strategy globally, including teams in Japan and Singapore. Being Type A, I've brought structure and processes to marketing operations while building relationships, which I'm proud of.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alina

01What do you attribute your success to?

My upbringing with education first mindset made me naturally curious and open-minded. Experiences living abroad in Mexico and elsewhere, meeting different people, shaped my worldview, kept me grounded and humble while motivated to improve. Family support has been key, along with great education and those privileged experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be open-minded because every person you meet has something great to contribute. Take what is important and leave the rest, but different perspectives can only make you smarter and more empathetic, which helps especially in a global environment with different cultures and work styles.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay educated and curious, don't be afraid to not understand things or ask uncomfortable questions. Acknowledge being a woman in tech is challenging but lean on other women for support. Embrace it as strength - we are more empathetic and clear-headed - and use that to your advantage rather than seeing it as weakness.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is both challenge and opportunity for marketers - helps efficiency but risks making everyone think they can be a marketer, pushing aside talented professionals' craft. Also, being a woman in tech remains challenging as we are still underrepresented in a male-dominated field despite progress.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is my biggest supporters so I make decisions that align with that. Staying true to myself and not getting caught up in anything that doesn't align with my morals or values.
