Her Story

About Alisha

My journey to where I am today really starts before my career in real estate. I graduated high school 8 months pregnant as the first person in my graduating class. I was slated to attend the military or any field that I wanted to, but because I was a teenage mom, that wasn't an option. Fast forward, I had an opportunity to go to school as a single parent and single mom, and I obtained my MBA. I went to work in corporate America in financial services for over a decade with a Wealth Management Advisory Team, and then I started helping people with consumer credit education, helping them with their credit scores so that they can buy houses. I had an individual who said, you know what, you really should think about real estate. And so that very day, I signed up for the real estate class while working in corporate America. I obtained my license because it was an easy transition from credit to real estate. I've been able to open my own small boutique family-owned firm, Platinum Group Realty, and to open a real estate school, Platinum Institute of Real Estate, which provides real estate education in North and South Carolina. I obtained the highest certification that one can get in real estate education as a Distinguished State Instructor, and I'm currently Educator of the Year for the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association for 2025. I've done a lot of great things, speaking nationally, teaching locally for state associations, while still running a brokerage. My life is full circle - I started out as a single parent, last in my graduating class, and now I'm happily married with a beautiful family and grandchildren. My first home I bought from a housing counseling center for affordable housing, and I now go back as a realtor and a leader in my community and volunteer at that organization.

Ten minutes with Alisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have to give it all to God. I know that may not be a popular thing, but I wouldn't be truthful if I didn't say it. It's in Him that I live and I move, and I breathe, and I even have my existence. He strengthens me to do all things.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When I consider where I've come from and where I'm at now, I think the best thing is to always set goals. Always set goals, and that's just not wishing, but set real goals. Surround yourself with people who are going to bring the best out of you, and don't be afraid to continuously reinvent yourself. One of my favorite quotes that I live by is, avoid doing the most when you've done the least. What that simply means is, you know, with your goals and reinventing yourself, it's important that we find a balance between putting forth the effort before we proclaim to be great, right? You got to put in the work before you can really, really reap the fruit of your labor.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Two of the most important values to me are honesty and integrity. Those go hand in hand, but I think sometimes, you know, they can play a different role. I would just say honesty and integrity are really big with me on a personal and a professional level, and loyalty.
