About Alison
Alison Buckley is the founder of Tampa Bay Cat Alliance Inc, a registered 501c3 non-profit cat rescue organization that serves the Tampa Bay area. She has led the organization for 16 years as a volunteer with no salary, including nine years operating a public shelter that facilitated many animal adoptions. Earlier in her career, Buckley ran an editorial service for 25 years before dissolving it and briefly launched Classic Kitchen, which she placed on hold due to funding constraints. Her entrepreneurial journey began after high school with factory jobs, leading her to start a janitorial services business that included work at a country club where her transformations earned additional clients. She has also operated an advertising publication for a couple of years.

Ten minutes with Alison
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never really received any formal career advice. After high school, I had factory jobs but decided to get out of that grind and start my own business, beginning with janitorial services at a country club where people were amazed at the transformation, leading to more clients.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You have to be very persistent and motivated, even though things get pretty tough. Follow what you feel is best for you and your passion. It may not always work out the way you hoped, but just keep moving forward, don't give up.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
You have to like what you're doing. Being persistent and keep moving forward. Try to stay positive even though it's not always easy. Believe in yourself. Keep reaching for more. Be patient because it's not going to happen overnight.
