Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alison
01What do you attribute your success to?
My career has been shaped by the incredible leaders and mentors who invested in my growth. I am especially grateful for the women who have guided me, offering both strategic insight and unwavering support. I am incredibly fortunate to have had these women in my corner.
Early in my career, Seancee Touhey (VP of Strategic Alliances at Resolve Tech Solutions) helped me learn the complexities of infrastructure alliances and the VAR and GSI ecosystem. Working directly for Laura Davis (Government Education and Healthcare Channel VP at Zscaler) was vital and instrumental in deepening my expertise within the public sector helping me learn the business, while Bryce Grow (VP of Americas Channel at SentinelOne) was a key leader during our time together at Zscaler, helping me scale commercial alliances and ecosystem partnerships. I also owe a great deal to Stacy Corcoran (Senior Director at JumpCloud), whose mentorship at Zscaler taught me how to focus on the high-impact areas necessary to scale early-stage partnerships. All of these women continue to inspire me and I am thankful for their leadership and friendship.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
<blockquote>The most transformative advice I received early in my career was to embrace professional evolution and view my career as a continuous work in progress. When I entered the technology sector, female representation was limited; seeing the current surge of women in high-level sales, technical leadership, and engineering is a testament to how far the industry has come. Success in this field requires a commitment to lifelong learning and the resilience to view a 'no' as a redirection rather than a finality. I encourage others to find their 'tribe'—a dedicated support network that fosters growth. Every closed door is a stepping stone toward a more refined skill set. Ultimately, you must be your own strongest advocate, grounded in a firm understanding of your own value.</blockquote>
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
<blockquote>Storytelling is a powerful catalyst for change; it allows women to see a tangible roadmap for career evolution within a specialized industry. For those early in their journey who may be questioning their path, I hope my trajectory serves as both evidence of what is possible and a source of motivation. Having had the privilege to contribute to industry leaders in cybersecurity and cloud, such as <strong>Zscaler</strong> and <strong>Google</strong>, I’ve learned that a career is rarely a straight line. By committing to continuous education and embracing emerging technologies, you can transform challenges into the momentum needed to propel yourself toward new opportunities.</blockquote>
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
<blockquote>The most significant frontier in technology today lies at the intersection of Generative and Agentic AI. This evolution represents a fundamental shift from 'creation' to 'action.' While Generative AI has mastered content production, Agentic AI introduces the ability to plan and execute complex tasks autonomously to achieve specific business outcomes. For partners, the opportunity is immense: by collaborating with hyperscalers like Google, AWS, and Azure, they can develop scalable use cases that streamline operations and reduce costs across both the commercial and public sectors. This is the moment for partners to lean in and build the automated, resilient solutions that will define the next era of business growth.</blockquote>
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
<blockquote>In my career as a Partner Development Manager, I’ve managed a wide spectrum of complex partnerships, and the single greatest differentiator has always been trust. While expertise is essential, the values of empathy, integrity, and honesty are what truly sustain a business relationship. Partners invest in people as much as they do in platforms; they need to trust their advocates and the organizations behind them. I believe that kindness and transparency are not just personal virtues—they are strategic imperatives that allow us to navigate challenges, foster innovation, and scale the businesses of our customers in both the public and commercial sectors.</blockquote>
