About Alison
Alison Winther owns and operates AWin Marketing, her pharmaceutical marketing consulting firm focused on the commercial marketing side of pharmaceutical brand management. She established the company almost five years ago after more than a decade of consulting work and now leads efforts supporting pharmaceutical brand teams and agencies, either through staff augmentation or special projects. Winther brings nearly twenty years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry to her practice. She earned a business degree with a focus in healthcare management from the University of Connecticut in 2008 and later completed an MBA at Villanova University in 2014, with concentrations in strategic management, international business, and marketing. Winther attributes her success to the strong professional relationships she has cultivated over the years, particularly from her earliest roles, and advises young women entering the field not to fear non-traditional work formats.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alison
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from the relationships I've built over the years. I was able to start my own business because I had people I could call on who had worked with me before. My strongest relationships are from my very first junior job. Being nice and helpful means people remember good work and want to work with you again.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to be a non-traditionalist. You can work in a variety of different work formats.
