ALIX ERIE

President & Senior Consultant
Advancement of Civilization Effort
Princeville, HI 96722

Alix Claire Erie is a physicist and founder of the Advancement of Civilization Effort (ACE), a nonprofit research institute dedicated to the ethical evolution of science, technology, and human potential. Her career spans more than a decade of analytical, scientific, and strategic work across energy systems, financial technology, automation, and machine learning. With experience building algorithms in Python, C, C++, ROOT, and C#, she has collaborated with international research teams—including at CERN and the University of Geneva—to uncover hidden efficiencies, develop new models of intelligence, and design data-driven solutions that bridge physics and computation.

Through the ACE Institute, Erie leads long-horizon research integrating physics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, education, and ethics. Current initiatives include an EEG-based Brain–Computer Interface program studying neural coherence during cognitive and meditative states; Children Play, a pedagogical research center designed as a living educational laboratory; and the ACEpedia and Individual Advancement Assessment, tools aimed at cultivating empathy, ethical awareness, and clarity of thought at individual and organizational levels. Her work also explores Co-Conscious Design, a framework investigating how human and artificial intelligence can develop shared coherence, collaboration, and emergent forms of reciprocal understanding.

Erie’s early consulting and analytical career continues to inform ACE’s mission—applying the same principles that once revealed hidden value in complex systems to the broader challenge of advancing civilization itself. Her research, writing, and community initiatives in Hawai‘i reflect a commitment to designing environments where science, consciousness, and creativity converge. Guided by the belief that civilization evolves through coherence, empathy, and intelligent collaboration, she works to build a living prototype of a future where humans and machines grow together toward sustainable, compassionate advancement.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the blend of discipline, curiosity, and global perspective that has shaped my life. With a background in physics and years of study in Switzerland, I learned how to think critically and push the boundaries of possibility. Yoga has kept me grounded along the way, helping me stay centered through intense work and leadership. And traveling to 24 countries has given me a deeper understanding of people, cultures, and the impact meaningful work can have—fueling the vision behind my nonprofit.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to surround myself with people who truly believe in my potential. Having a mentor who saw my strengths—even before I fully recognized them—has shaped my confidence, my growth, and the way I now show up for others. Their belief in me taught me to trust myself, take bold steps, and keep moving forward with purpose.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is balancing research with the development of my online platform. I’m focused on advancing my studies while also creating a website to share my work and insights. At the same time, I’m exploring practical applications of physics and cognitive exercises, which allows me to translate complex ideas into tools that can benefit others.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are balance, presence, and growth. I prioritize yoga as a way to stay centered, dedicate time to my children, and embrace travel as a means to broaden my perspective and continue learning from the world around me.
