Aliza Doyle
Aliza Doyle is a plant science professional and graduate of Cornell University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences in 2019. She began her career in research shortly after graduation at the Boyce Thompson Institute, working in high-throughput plant tissue culture. There, she contributed to projects involving tomato and Physalis species, focusing on trait development within the Solanaceae family and advancing techniques in plant regeneration and culture systems.
She later expanded into biomedical and applied research at the University of New Mexico, where she worked in human cell culture and protein interaction studies related to COVID-19 and cholesterol research. Following this academic and lab-based experience, she transitioned into commercial agriculture, joining Little Leaf Farms as an Assistant Grower, where she gained hands-on experience in large-scale hydroponic lettuce production and controlled environment agriculture systems.
Aliza currently serves as Fertigation Manager at Good Day Farm, a medical cannabis cultivation company based in Arkansas. In this role, she manages irrigation and fertigation systems, environmental controls, water and nutrient testing, and production optimization within indoor and greenhouse facilities. Her professional specialization centers on controlled environment agriculture, integrated climate and irrigation systems, plant tissue culture, and precision fertigation designed to optimize plant health, yield, and consistency in high-value crops.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to finding strong mentors who support my goals rather than imposing their own plans. I’ve learned that having mentors who guide and encourage me to pursue my own aspirations, rather than redirecting me toward their vision, has been essential to my growth. This has been one of the most important pieces of career advice I’ve received, and it continues to shape how I approach my professional development.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to find mentors who support my goals rather than impose their own. I’ve also learned to trust myself, ask questions, and stay confident—especially when navigating male-dominated fields.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering male-dominated fields to trust themselves and their abilities. It’s important to stay confident, ask questions, and not be afraid to challenge or clarify things as you grow in your career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field are the evolving legal status of cannabis in medical cultivation and working in a male-dominated industry. At the same time, these also create opportunities to help shape regulation and advance greater diversity in leadership.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Helping people is my core value in both my work and personal life. It guides my scientific research interests and my current role in producing crops that contribute to health and enjoyment.
