Her Story
About Allene
Allene Martin has spent four years in the field of education and advocacy. She began her journey with an internship experience in high school working with restorative justice and the criminal justice system to explore alternative methods for K-8 students. Martin served as a teacher and administrator in that setting for approximately five to six years before attending college and earning a bachelor's degree in 2023. Following in the footsteps of other women in her family, she pivoted into higher education where she has contributed to student activities, admissions, and housing. In her current role, Martin employs a holistic approach, assisting students from various backgrounds, financial situations, and cultures in developing degree programs and career plans that align with their goals and community support. She also lends her time to the Philadelphia Community Youth Court, occasionally providing training and program facilitation. Martin has engaged in public speaking and aspires to further her advocacy through training, development, mentorship, and coaching.
