Her Story
About Alli
Alli Burton is the Founder and CEO of Borgia Consulting and Co-Founder of Obsidian Development, where she focuses on bridging talent, capital, and execution across critical infrastructure. Based in Bellevue, Washington, she brings more than two decades of experience in energy infrastructure, construction, and data center development. Her work centers on aligning strategy and workforce solutions with the rapidly expanding demands of digital ecosystems, utilities, and hyperscale development. She also oversees Obsidian’s multi-gigawatt pipeline, advancing large-scale data center and power projects across multiple U.S. markets.
Before launching her own ventures in 2024, she spent over 20 years in senior leadership roles spanning talent acquisition, workforce strategy, and business operations, including significant time at organizations such as Mortenson and McKinstry. Throughout her career, she built expertise in executive leadership, organizational scaling, and infrastructure talent systems, helping companies grow and execute complex projects in high-performance environments. This foundation led her to identify persistent gaps between strategy, capital, and execution in the infrastructure sector—gaps she now works to solve through consulting and development platforms.
Today, Alli operates at the intersection of infrastructure development and workforce transformation, with a strong emphasis on regenerative power hubs, data center expansion, and community-aligned economic impact. Through Borgia Consulting, she partners with developers, utilities, and engineering firms to accelerate delivery while strengthening workforce pipelines. She is also involved in initiatives focused on reskilling and expanding access to technical careers, particularly in underserved regions, reflecting a broader commitment to linking large-scale infrastructure growth with long-term community and economic development.

Ten minutes with Alli
01What do you attribute your success to?
I’d attribute my success to resilience, adaptability, and being willing to take smart risks.
Most of it honestly comes from learning in the middle of the work—figuring things out when the path isn’t clear, adjusting quickly, and staying focused on what actually needs to get done. I’ve also been lucky to work with—and learn from—really strong operators along the way.
More than anything, I care about building things that are real and sustainable, and that’s shaped how I approach everything. And I don't hear, "No!" I only hear, "Not Yet!"
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has come from a combination of mentors and advisors throughout my career, including experienced business leaders who have offered strategic guidance. I’ve also been shaped by collaborative partnerships, as well as insights gained through working alongside industry leaders and academic professionals.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering this industry to take risks and build their own value instead of waiting for permission.
Don’t assume someone else is going to hand you an opportunity—go create it. Pay attention to what you’re learning, get in the room, and stay close to the work.
And just as important—trust yourself. If something doesn’t feel right or doesn’t align, you don’t have to follow the standard path.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating the rapid growth of infrastructure development while balancing community impact, transparency, and evolving workforce needs. At the same time, this environment presents significant opportunities to reshape industries, drive sustainable economic growth, and develop innovative solutions that benefit both businesses and local communities.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are impact, innovation, and empowerment. I am deeply committed to creating opportunities for others, particularly women, and to developing solutions that benefit both businesses and communities. My passions also include a background in ballet, which shaped my discipline, creativity, and dedication to personal growth, as well as mentoring women, supporting entrepreneurship, and building programs that promote long-term economic stability.
