Her Story

About Allie

Allie Kelly has spent the past 8-9 years building her career in the advertising industry, specializing in paid social media. After graduating from the University of Illinois where she studied advertising, she navigated a challenging job market impacted by the COVID pandemic by freelancing in paid social, organic, and search before joining the agency space. In her role, she develops go-to-market strategies for direct-to-consumer clients, handling audience targeting, creative development, copywriting, performance monitoring, and data analysis. Kelly credits her success to a commitment to ongoing learning, whether through reading about technology and current events or drawing insights from her team members. She values discipline and organization while ensuring her work stays authentic and impactful, always remembering to connect with the emotional side of advertising rather than getting lost in data alone. One piece of career advice that resonates with her is staying focused on the bigger picture of how campaigns affect consumers in the real world, finding ways to make ads feel natural and human.

Ten minutes with Allie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to always finding ways to keep learning and growing. Outside of work I love to read about the tech space and news in general to stay up-to-date. I also listen to everyone around me on the team to learn from them and expand my knowledge.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is to remain focused on the big picture of what the work you're doing is impacting in the real world. Finding ways to connect with consumers so that ads don't even feel like ads, and finding human emotion within a very data-heavy space really resonated with me from a mentor.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity is the fast pace of technological advancements and new platforms like ChatGPT. Staying on top of trends without pigeonholing into one area is key, though it can be challenging to keep up with all platform changes.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values to me are maintaining discipline and organization while ensuring my work remains authentic and I make impactful decisions. It's also crucial not to get lost in data and to remember the emotional side that advertising can have.
