Her Story
About Allison
I've been working in media for 23 years, starting with a summer internship that my Aunt Joanne helped me get during college, and I've loved it ever since. For the past 8 years, I've been an account executive for digital and TV media, working across different stations and formats. My main focus is connecting businesses with their audiences through advertising on TV, digital platforms, and streaming services. I spend a lot of time reaching out to new clients and servicing existing ones by meeting their expectations through detailed reporting and keeping them informed about special opportunities like sports events, red carpet premieres, shows like Yellowstone and Shark Week, or anything that draws eyeballs to television and online. I'm active in the Fort Worth community through chambers and local groups like Near Southside, where we meet the first Wednesday of every month to network and learn about what businesses are doing in that area. The media landscape is constantly evolving with new streaming platforms and ways to consume content, so I have to stay on top of changes and adapt quickly to offer clients the best ways to reach and target their audiences.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Allison
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my Aunt Joanne, who got me into the business 23 years ago just as a summer internship for college. It just kind of stuck, and I've loved it ever since. That opportunity she gave me really set me on this path, and I'm grateful for how it all started.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to not give up. It gets easier the more you do it repetitively. You just gotta go through a lot of no's before you get to a yes, as far as selling goes. You have to stay the course and keep pushing forward, even when it's challenging.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think just be willing to learn and change quickly. You know, the world of media is evolving every day with new services and new streaming platforms, and new ways to consume content. You just gotta roll with it and adapt quickly, because it changes fast. The industry moves at a rapid pace, so staying flexible and open to learning is essential.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest challenge is just staying on top of the changes and learning what new services are out there. It is challenging to be able to offer them to people and stay on top of all of the digital world, the platforms, and things like that. But I think there's a lot of opportunity to grow. We're never going to stop consuming content. It's just trying to find a way to reach the people that you want and target the right audience. The constant evolution requires staying informed, but it also creates endless possibilities for connecting businesses with their customers.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think just being able to trust people is most important. I want people to trust me, and I want to be able to trust people. A lot of my job is listening to what people need, what kind of challenge they have with their business, and how we can help them. It's helpful if everybody's just honest with what their real problems are, rather than having something else come out later where you work twice as hard. I also think being efficient and thorough is a value in both life and work. These principles guide how I approach relationships and responsibilities in every aspect of my life.
