Allison M. Halber is an accomplished operations and logistics leader based in Southern Maine, with more than a decade of experience in distribution center management, workforce development, and safety leadership. She most recently served as a UPS Business Manager and Facility Manager, overseeing large-scale operations across multiple Maine facilities and leading approximately 200 employees, including drivers, inside staff, and management. Her responsibilities included KPI performance, staffing strategy, vehicle and building maintenance, safety compliance, and union labor relations. Recognized for her steady leadership during high-pressure peak seasons and the COVID era, Allison built a reputation for people-first management, promoting from within, and developing strong, accountable teams.

Her career began in hospitality as a restaurant owner in Bangor, Maine, where she successfully operated and managed a business for more than a decade. That entrepreneurial foundation shaped her strengths in customer experience, financial oversight, staffing, and operational efficiency. She later transitioned into higher education while earning her Master’s Degree in Communication from the University of Maine, where she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and received the Teaching Excellence Award. Her academic focus on personal storytelling and interpersonal communication continues to influence her authentic leadership style, grounded in active listening, empowerment, and clear communication.

Today, Allison channels her operational expertise and creative energy into entrepreneurship. As the founder of She Loves LLC, she designs and crafts custom woodworking and art pieces, including live-edge tables, benches, shelving, and wood-burned works. Through Flatrocks LLC, she brings her passion for hospitality to life as an Airbnb Superhost at White Mountain Haven in North Conway, New Hampshire, delivering exceptional guest experiences rooted in thoughtful service and operational excellence. Across every chapter of her career—hospitality, education, corporate leadership, and creative business ownership—Allison remains committed to leading with authenticity, resilience, and a deep investment in developing people and building strong communities.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to strong interpersonal skills—actively listening, leading with authenticity, and consistently following up and following through on commitments. I also believe in recognizing and seizing opportunities when they arise. Equally important has been the support of leadership that championed and encouraged women to step into management roles, creating pathways for growth and advancement.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest shifts in the industry right now is the way major carriers are restructuring their parcel strategies. Many are offloading low-margin volume—particularly with changes in Amazon handling and USPS/UPS routing—while consolidating operations and focusing more intentionally on higher-margin segments such as healthcare logistics.

This transformation reduces driver and headcount overhead and significantly alters traditional operational models. While this presents challenges for labor management, workforce planning, and operational stability, it also creates meaningful opportunities. Organizations that can adapt quickly have the chance to specialize, streamline operations, and position themselves in more profitable, value-driven areas of logistics.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are authenticity, active listening, and empowering others. I strive to be reliable and dependable, while prioritizing the well-being of employees and ensuring people feel supported, valued, and able to thrive.
