Her Story
About Allison
I've always been a fan and player of video games, and I studied fine art at Carnegie Mellon University with a background in electronic media and animation. I always knew that I wanted to be involved in creative tech in some way, so the interest in video games and my background in electronic media all just kind of led together. I've been playing video games as a content creator for the last 10 years, and that actually helped open the door for me professionally to go from being an online content creator into actually marketing games in a publishing setting. Now I'm the Senior Manager for the Game Capture team at 2K Games, where I manage a team of artists and folks within our creative marketing arm. We make the trailers, back-of-box images, website imagery, and everything that we release to show our video games to the public. One of my proudest accomplishments was in my first two weeks at 2K, when I had just gotten married and came back from my honeymoon. They basically said, 'okay, here you go, can you do it?' and I said, 'let's go, let's try!' That first project was a video game deep dive for Borderlands 3 for the E3 presentation. I've been working on the Borderlands franchise and the WWE 2K franchise for my entire career in video games, so I have a lot of interest and passion in those franchises. What I love most about my work is the folks I work with - incredibly talented artists and creators who care so much about the work and are always pushing me to be better. I also love being able to do something fun and creative that connects with fans. Our job is to invite players to come and play our games and prove to them how fun they are. If I'm having fun while I'm doing my job, that will be clear to our players and consumers as well. My job is to make fun, to have fun, and to invite other people to have fun.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say staying true to my own principles. I bring an artistic aspect into everything that I do, and I feel like I bring that into my workspace and my work ethic as well. It can be difficult when you're working in a marketing environment where sometimes the expected deliverables are not aligned with just being purely artistic and creative. But at the end of the day, I believe that is what really drives creative marketing - keeping that art form within it. I think that is something that I have brought forth with my work over the years that has really helped drive my success.
