Her Story

About Allison M.

Allison M. Andersen is an arts entrepreneur, conductor, collaborative pianist, and community leader dedicated to making music accessible, engaging, and meaningful. Based in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she has spent more than three decades connecting people through collaborative performance, conducting, arts leadership, and music education throughout Southeast Idaho.

While studying piano, Allison discovered a passion for opera and collaborative music-making, embracing the role of the collaborative pianist—often called “the orchestra before the orchestra arrives.” She earned a Bachelor of Science in Music from Brigham Young University–Idaho with concentrations in Humanities and Dance, building a career founded on artistic excellence, service, and collaboration.

Today, Allison serves as Music Coordinator at Trinity United Methodist Church, where she plans worship music, coordinates guest artists, and helps present free community concerts. She is also the collaborative pianist for the East Idaho Youth Chorus, supporting music literacy and encouraging young musicians.

Her commitment to community arts has included conducting the Community Orchestra at Firth, where musicians of all backgrounds came together to celebrate American music, community traditions, and military service. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Idaho Falls Opera Theatre, helping guide one of Southeast Idaho’s longest-standing nonprofit arts organizations.

Outside the arts, Allison works in Industry Engagement and Business Support at Idaho National Laboratory, coordinating executive-level visitor experiences and strategic events. She is completing her Master of Business Administration through Western Governors University and is a member of Idaho Women in Nuclear and The Village Improvement Society, continuing a legacy of civic service and community improvement.

In 2026, Allison was appointed Classic Miss Idaho with the Miss United Crown of America organization in recognition of her leadership, community service, and commitment to arts advocacy. Through her title, she promotes arts education, community engagement, and the belief that music is a powerful tool for connection, service, and personal growth.

Known for her dependability, collaborative spirit, and servant leadership, Allison believes the arts enrich communities, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities for people of all ages to thrive. Whether on the podium, at the piano, or serving her community, she is committed to building connections through music and inspiring others to invest in the arts for generations to come.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Allison M.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being dependable, prepared, and consistently willing to help wherever I am needed. I believe in creating a stable and encouraging environment that allows students, collaborators, and fellow musicians to grow with confidence. Building strong relationships through reliability, professionalism, and support has been central to both my personal and professional success.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the continued reduction in arts funding and the resulting decline in access to music education within local communities. These cuts make it increasingly difficult to sustain programs that introduce students to music and the performing arts. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity in building community partnerships and creating innovative ways to keep music education and performance accessible.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are accessibility to the arts, community connection, and creating healthy, encouraging environments where people feel supported and valued. I also deeply value honoring service, particularly for veterans, and advocating for fair compensation and respect for musicians and artists. I believe the arts play an essential role in strengthening communities, and I am committed to helping ensure those opportunities remain available and sustainable.
