About Alycia
I began my career as a teacher in 2016, but COVID changed everything. When we had to teach from home and do instructional design on the fly without much support, I realized I needed to pivot. I went back to school for hospitality because I've always loved the event space and marketing. I got my Master's in Mass Communication and started running social media for the school where I was working. In October 2021, I joined MedPro Healthcare staffing, and that's where my career really took off. Now I oversee our entire domestic marketing department. Day to day, I oversee our social media content before it gets posted, look at data trends to make sure we're receiving leads and tracking ROI, and oversee all the content that gets posted, whether it's newsletters, website information, or blog posts. My main area of expertise is lead generation in marketing. What I'm most proud of is that I was able to oversee our domestic marketing department in less than 3 years of being in this industry. My master's program helped, but honestly, the LinkedIn training and HubSpot trainings helped more because marketing is forever changing and they try to keep up to date with what's happening right now in the world.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, it's just taking the chance on yourself. I was a teacher prior to being in this role, and if I hadn't taken the course and thought that I could do it, I wouldn't be where I am today. I think it's just taking the chance on yourself and believing you can do it, even when you're pivoting to something completely new.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To constantly keep learning. Marketing, and just life in general, is never stagnant. You're always going to have to keep learning. There's always somebody that is going to teach you something, and you should be open to it. Things are changing so quickly, especially in marketing, so you have to stay current and be willing to learn from others.
