Her Story
About Alysia
I am a digital marketing and automations manager and also own a small marketing agency. In my main role, I work extensively on HubSpot, managing everything automation-related from data cleanup to building out workflows, and really managing and putting into place everything from guidelines to SOPs, taking on that whole entire project and division of our team. With my small business, I help clients with everything from social media to paid media, to HubSpot, to really everything a full marketing agency offers, from print products to graphic design. What's really helpful is that I do have a background in a lot of different things, from event planning to HubSpot. Not every marketing role requires you to know every function of marketing and how things interconnect, so I think that is a really cool dynamic of mine - that I can come in and do everything. I work with clients in all different industries, from real estate to male-dominated fields like logistics.

Ten minutes with Alysia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I definitely am a very grounded individual, a very grounded woman. Being so young, I think my biggest motivator is learning from others. Just some of my childhood experiences and my parents - I was adopted - so I think that is also a big portion, having that resiliency to keep going. I motivate myself to strive for better and grow and transform. I think that is something that definitely pushes me - my family, my mom. I lost my mom, but I think she is one individual that has really pushed me to this point where I believe in myself, and also that I'm not afraid to do anything, really, because growing up, I remember she would always tell me, 'Alysia, you can do whatever you want to do.' And I think that's something that, even on the tough moments or the hard moments, that's just a memory that replays in my head all the time. So I definitely would say that it's really because of my parents and my family. I think that is something that is really near and dear to my heart and makes me want to keep going for them.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My best advice for women who are first getting started is be you, and don't let small, minor setbacks push you down. I think that's one thing that women in business and women in corporate America - you'll see a lot of women throughout their career, it may take them a little bit to get there, to the C-suite level, or whatever the goal you're trying to achieve. I think that's one of the biggest things - having that resiliency and getting back up, because there are a lot of setbacks. I went through a lot of setbacks when I was getting started, into my early career. It's really all about that tenacity, that resiliency. You have to have a little bit of that to push forward, because it's not an easy road. And I don't think it's easy for men, either. I would just say women, there's definitely a lot of factors that come into play. A really big piece of advice that I would say is to have a mentor who is a woman, a woman that has really walked in the steps that you want to go into. I have a lot of mentors, I still have them, and I had them when I was really young, and they've definitely helped me a lot.
