Her Story

About Alyssa

Alyssa Bluth serves as a supervisor in warehouse management at UPS, a role she attained after promotion from an administrative position. Her professional journey spans 7 years in the industry, building on a foundation that includes college in Ohio and ongoing learning through community college and online classes. Bluth credits her success to 20 to 21 years of life experiences, from her childhood through college graduation to the present, during which she has overcome a battle with drug addiction, maintaining sobriety for 8 years, and survived domestic violence, never allowing obstacles to halt her progress. She begins her days at 4 a.m. to prepare herself and her son before managing volume, staffing, costs, and budgets at work starting at 7 a.m. Valuing consistency, persistence, reliability, honesty, and dependability, Bluth is now seeking new management opportunities outside warehouse settings, including an interview with the Comcast Arena in Philadelphia. She encourages women in her male-dominated field to remain open-minded, say yes to opportunities, and refuse to let toxic bullies dim their shine.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alyssa

01What do you attribute your success to?

My life experiences from my childhood foundation growing up to college and everything from graduating college to now. That's 20, 21 years of experience. I've survived a battle with drug addiction. I'm sober 8 years now. I survived domestic violence. I've never let anything stop me, I've just kept going.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always be open-minded. Say yes. Cause you never know where it's gonna take you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let them dim your shine. It's a male-dominated industry. There's a lot of toxic bullies out there, and never let them dim your shine.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I've hit my top tier. I don't feel there's any more advancement. So I'm trying to explore other venues like the Comcast Arena in Philadelphia, still management but a sports arena instead of warehouse, because it's been 7 years.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Staying true to myself, just being me always. The consistent, persistent, reliable, honest, dependable mother, friend, daughter, sister, employee, boss, neighbor.
