About Alyssa

Alyssa Jones is a Finance and ERP Associate at KPMG, where she supports large-scale enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformations for Fortune 500 organizations across industries including global financial services, consumer packaged goods, utilities, telecommunications, and offshore drilling. Since joining the field in 2024, Jones has focused on program management, helping guide complex technology-enabled transformations through project coordination, client communication, internal team collaboration, and delivery management. Her work spans key finance and operational areas, including financial assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and supply chain processes, where she helps organizations improve efficiency and adapt to evolving business needs. Jones’ passion for business transformation is rooted in her commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. She earned her undergraduate degree in Organizational Communication from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her Master of Management Studies degree from Duke University. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has benefited from mentors who encouraged her development, including a professor who helped her prepare for her career through resume guidance, LinkedIn development, and interview preparation. Today, Jones pays that support forward as a mentor in KPMG’s Inspire to Hire mentorship program, where she helps guide emerging professionals as they navigate their own career paths. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Jones is dedicated to leadership, community, and relationship-building. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Order of Omega, reflecting her commitment to service and excellence. Jones attributes her success to remaining teachable, adaptable, and willing to embrace new challenges, especially as technology and artificial intelligence continue to reshape the business landscape. She encourages young women entering the field to be patient with themselves, maintain a student mindset, and recognize that growth comes from being open to learning new processes, pursuing development opportunities, and building meaningful professional networks.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alyssa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my own success in this field to just really being teachable, even though I am a couple of years removed from undergrad and grad school, I still try to make sure that I am adaptable, teachable, just willing to learn new things, and no matter how successful I am in anything that I do, just being willing to learn more, and willing to adjust.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say advice that I would give is just be patient with yourself. You may not get something immediately right off the bat, or it may take some time, but I feel like we are all capable. I really just keep repeating it, but being teachable honestly. I think that is the most important thing for anyone to be successful, because while you may not know how to do something, or be familiar with it, just being able to put yourself in that student mindset, you can accomplish anything.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities are educating yourself on new technologies to maximize benefits, and participating in trainings and certifications offered by companies.
