Alyssa began her professional journey in 2022 as a freelance graphic designer, developing branding, digital assets, websites, and marketing collateral for clients. Her Interview

Ten minutes with Alyssa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to taking calculated chances, remaining open to continuous learning, and having the courage to push through imposter syndrome. I have learned the value of building strong professional relationships and pursuing opportunities even when I may not feel completely ready or meet every qualification. Throughout my career, I have embraced roles that challenged me to grow, trusting in my ability to learn and adapt along the way. I believe some of the greatest professional growth happens when we are willing to take a leap, step outside our comfort zones, and have confidence in our potential.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received has come from the many mentors who have supported and guided me throughout my professional journey. Rather than one specific piece of advice or individual, I value the collective impact of those who have helped me better understand my industry, navigate career decisions, strengthen my skills, and build meaningful professional relationships. These experiences have taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people I can learn from, seeking guidance when needed, and remaining open to different perspectives as I continue to grow and progress toward leadership.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the industry to believe in themselves and not let imposter syndrome hold them back from pursuing opportunities. It can be difficult to put yourself out there and apply for roles when you do not feel completely qualified or ready, but waiting until you feel fully prepared can limit your growth. Some of the most meaningful professional development happens when you take a leap, challenge yourself, and trust in your ability to learn along the way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is increased competition, with more qualified applicants competing for opportunities. At the same time, I see significant potential in the continued advancement of artificial intelligence. While AI can feel uncertain or intimidating, I believe it is important to embrace it, understand how it can enhance our work, and remain adaptable as the industry evolves. Those who are willing to learn, adapt, and grow alongside emerging technologies will be better positioned to succeed.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my professional and personal life are growth, education, creativity, perseverance, curiosity, and continuous development. I believe in challenging myself, staying open to new ideas, and continually seeking opportunities to learn and improve. I also place a strong value on meaningful relationships and mentorship, recognizing the importance of learning from experienced professionals and surrounding myself with people who provide guidance, perspective, and encouragement. These values continue to shape how I approach my career, personal growth, and the opportunities ahead.
