About Alyssa
Alyssa Reyes serves as an Assistant Principal at Los Alamitos High School, where she oversees curriculum, instruction, and technology. In this role, she supports a comprehensive high school of about 2,900 students by providing professional development to teachers, advancing instructional goals, and managing the master schedule for upwards of 2,900 students. She began her career teaching high school English approximately 13 years ago through Teach for America in an underserved school, where she remained for three and a half years before moving to a larger district. Education has always been about agency for Reyes, who seeks to ensure students have access and opportunities to accomplish their goals. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at the USC Rossier School of Education, about a year and a half into the program and preparing to begin her dissertation on AI and emerging technologies. Her research explores how school sites and systems can respond to evolving technologies, including generative AI, with a specific focus on providing teachers access to AI literacy. Reyes is also a member of the Association of California School Administrators.
