She has also been involved with the National Association of Leadership and Success and Kappa Delta Pi, and she has earned Dean’s List recognition multiple times. Through her professional and academic experiences, Alyssa has developed a particular interest in helping students engage with history through critical thinking, reflection, and meaningful connections to the world around them.

Looking toward the future, Alyssa hopes to transition into a full-time secondary social studies teaching position while continuing to pursue opportunities in historical research and advanced education, with the long-term goal of earning a Ph.D. and becoming a professor. She is passionate about making history engaging and accessible to students and takes pride in the impact she can make in the classroom. Guided by the values of kindness, compassion, and patience, Alyssa believes in focusing on steady, present-day progress rather than becoming overwhelmed by long-term plans. 01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to slow down, focus on the progress I’m making today, and avoid getting too caught up in planning too far ahead.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women to focus on their own progress rather than worrying about how others perceive them. In male-dominated environments, stay confident, embrace challenges, and keep moving forward on your own path.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is finding research opportunities, as job losses have made it more difficult to secure positions in specialized research areas.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are kindness, compassion, and patience. I strive to bring these qualities into both my work and personal life, especially in how I treat and support others.
