Her Story
About Alyssa
Alyssa Zimmerman serves as an Investment Advisor at Empower in its Boston retail branch. She began her career with the company in June 2025 immediately after graduating with both a bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's degree in finance, which she completed simultaneously through an integrated studies program. Initially working as an outbound associate making calls to potential clients, she later reached out to company leadership to join the new in-person Boston location as a concierge handling operational duties while fully licensed. As the branch grew, she transitioned earlier this summer into her current role, where she meets directly with clients to answer questions, provide recommendations on retirement plans including 401Ks and IRAs as well as other investment accounts, and handle a mix of client-facing and administrative responsibilities. She holds Series 7, Series 63, SIE, and Series 65 licenses, which she obtained within two months, and she participates in ongoing continuing education and training. Alyssa is also a member of a Jewish professionals network.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alyssa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I really think just ambition, being driven to succeed and help the company succeed. This is a new initiative for us, this retail branch, and so I really want to showcase what I can do by bringing in a new perspective. My ambition for reaching out to people, for talking to people, for just trying to show this company what I can do.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I really think just reaching out to people. You never know who's going to respond to you. As I mentioned, I reached out to the president of the company, I had no expectations. I really think networking is so important, and just making those connections. You're never too young to start, and you're never too young or anything to be to gain the confidence to reach out to people.
