What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to passion, discipline, creativity, and the strong support system of my family, whose values and guidance have shaped who I am today. I’ve also learned the importance of building my own discipline, creative identity, and supportive community within my field. As a vocalist, I find inspiration in the uniqueness of the human voice—unlike instruments, no two voices are ever the same due to individual physiology and DNA. While competition and rejection are part of the journey, embracing my individuality has strengthened my confidence and motivated me to continue growing and pursuing excellence.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to prioritize self-confidence, self-respect, and strong boundaries. You will always encounter opinions about your talent, appearance, and choices, but those external voices should never define your worth or direction. Early in my career, I worked with many different people and learned that the wrong mentorship and trying to please everyone can create confusion and pull you away from your true path. Over time, I realized the importance of being intentional about my inner circle and learning that it is not necessary to be everything to everyone. Saying yes can open doors, but knowing when to say no and protecting your values is just as important for long-term growth and fulfillment.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include frequent criticism, constant comparison, intense competition, and regular rejection, all of which are inherent in the operatic world and require strong resilience to navigate. At the same time, there are meaningful opportunities, particularly through networking, which can open doors to new collaborations and performance avenues, as well as purpose-driven outreach such as performing for hospital patients and other community settings. These experiences not only expand artistic reach but also deepen the impact and purpose of the work beyond the stage.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are passion, discipline, and creativity, which drive my growth and commitment to my craft. I also deeply value family support, confidence, and self-respect, as they have grounded me and shaped my resilience. Equally important are boundary-setting and intentional networking, which help me protect my well-being while building meaningful professional relationships and opportunities.
