About Amanda
Amanda Bullock brings nearly 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry to her current role as a Business Developer at Berkshire Hathaway GEICO. After retiring from Verizon in November 2021, she joined GEICO and progressed from claims adjuster to her present position supporting independent agents with education and resources to succeed. Her expertise centers on developing agents and winning agents through a people-first leadership approach. She gained a Harvard business and marketing education through her telecommunications career and training from Franklin Covey on emotional intelligence. Amanda has been involved in groups such as Women in Leadership ERG, Valor, and Women of Wireless, and she volunteers with the Houston Food Bank and St. Basil Orthodox Church in Houston, where she is learning Greek. She credits her success to embracing setbacks, pivoting when necessary, and focusing on team development rather than solely climbing the corporate ladder.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to falling down and learning from those hard lessons of being knocked down the ladder. It's not always about climbing the ladder; sometimes you have to sidestep or even go down. You have to understand that sometimes to get ahead, you have to go down or side to side. You have to be able to pivot.
