Her Story

About Amanda

Amanda Decker is an agricultural innovator, animal health advocate, and entrepreneur driven by curiosity, sustainability, and the belief that food and wellness are deeply connected. With a lifelong passion for agriculture and animal nutrition, Amanda has built her career around the intersection of science, innovation, and consumer education. Her journey began with a strong foundation in agricultural business and animal science, shaped by her experiences growing up connected to livestock and understanding firsthand the relationship between care, nutrition, and the food system.

Throughout her career, Amanda has become a respected leader in the animal health and nutrition space, specializing in product innovation, CPG formulation, and strategic growth. She has worked with organizations across the pet and animal wellness industries, helping develop and bring innovative products to market while building strong relationships with customers and communities. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to co-found Hippy Chick, a company focused on transforming poultry wellness through preventative care, thoughtful design, and accessible solutions for backyard chicken owners. Amanda’s mission is to bridge the gap between agriculture and consumers by creating products that support animal health while making the experience more approachable, educational, and joyful.

Known for her unapologetic curiosity, strategic mindset, and positive energy, Amanda believes that meaningful progress comes from asking better questions, embracing challenges, and staying committed to continuous learning. She is passionate about advocating for food as medicine, promoting sustainable practices, and creating a future where innovation and compassion work together. As a founder and leader, Amanda encourages others to pursue their vision, embrace unexpected pivots, and build with purpose—because the path may not always be predictable, but persistence and passion can create something extraordinary.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Amanda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my ranching upbringing, which gave me an early appreciation for nutrition, agriculture, and the importance of hard work. I have always been disciplined and goal-oriented, with a commitment to continuously building my expertise. I am also grateful for the mentors who believed in me, challenged me, and supported my growth throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to put in the work early, especially in your 20s, and focus on becoming an expert in your field. The time and effort you invest in developing your skills, knowledge, and experience create a strong foundation for long-term success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to clearly define your vision, write it down, and stay committed to pursuing it. At the same time, be willing to adapt and pivot when opportunities arise. Focus on becoming an expert through consistent effort, curiosity, and dedication.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in our field is the growth of the backyard poultry market. With millions of new flock owners, there is a growing demand for transparent, consumer-focused products and better education.

At the same time, this industry has an opportunity to evolve by bringing more transparency, innovation, and user-friendly experiences into agriculture and poultry—similar to the standards consumers expect in industries like pet care and beauty.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are kindness, conscious curiosity, and accountability. I believe in treating people with respect, continuing to learn and ask thoughtful questions, and taking responsibility for the impact of my work and decisions.
